Does Stevie Ray Vaughan do a cover of Purple Haze?

I was watching a Bill Hicks stand-up the other day and the intro song was Purple Haze, but it didn't sound at all like any Hendrix version I had ever heard. It sounded a lot like SRV's guitar playing, but I haven't been able to find a cover or even a live performance or anything. Does anyone know if Stevie Ray Vaughan ever did a cover of Purple Haze? If so, where would I find it?
